A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.
The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.
Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.
South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.
Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.
Easy to walk around, the free tram zone was a bonus.
Easy to walk around, the free tram zone was a bonus. Heaps of things to see and do; museums, parks, markets, restaurants and bars. It's worth exploring the Skydeck for panoramic views of the city and surrounds, and I recommend doing a dinner river cruise.

So easy to get around the team system with free tram rides and bus to Chadstone we didn’t pay for any extra travelling. Sadly Sunday nights were harder to find restaurants open but overall the food was great.

Great city to explore!
Great city to explore! We spent a few days in Melbourne CBD and also at Yarra Valley for a wedding. The CBD was busy and bustling all the time - reminded us of a much smaller scale of New York City. We loved walking around the CBD and exploring all of the lanes, streets, and shops in the city. The Queen Victoria Market was a cool place we visited as well as the numerous shopping malls, and cafes we stopped at too. Free trams in the city were great!
There was a lot of roadworks on when we were there and also a surprising number of homeless people. There were a few times that we didn’t feel 100% safe in the evenings especially, as there were some different characters around that would yell/fight nearby. Overall, would recommend and will return to visit.

Melbourne is far to busy for my taste...
Melbourne is far to busy for my taste...… The people here have a priority of getting places over driving safely! Typical for a big city. Melbourne drivers are reckless and dangerous. As for Melbourne itself I'm no latte sipping snob but this sure as hell chaps my ass. When I get far better service and a friendly smile from an over worked busy "AF" MacDonald's McCafe worker than from some bougie uptight pretentious Café skank that cannot even apply a little smile to her RBF for five seconds of our interaction. Melbourne do better!!! Far better than this "Dan Andrews attempt at the Commonwealth games of coffee and tourism" SMH!!!

This was our 8th visit to Melbourne including a year's stay...
This was our 8th visit to Melbourne including a year's stay in 2005-6. Melbourne is the loveliest city we have every visited with its parks and life style. It is very person oriented.
We revisited many walks and places from our previous visits. Spent much time with our many friends. All parts of the city are fully used by residents on weekends, in contrast to Sydney, whose central city is only filled with tourists on weekends.
Getting around is easy with a great tram and train system. Wine estates are available in all directions with about 200 within 1.5hours drive.

Split system wasn't functioning.
Split system wasn't functioning. It took several days before they acted on it. I was cold and bought myself a hot water bottle. A microwave in rooms would be a marked improvement. Lighting is bad for reading at night.
Rented this hotel last minutes for 11/2 day visit to Melbourne. Nice facility. Had a great view from the 27th floor. Hotel is located 500 m from the (central business district (CBD) which was very close to many attractions, bus, trains, shopping, dining etc. Located about 3-5 minutes from Yarra river. I ordered breakfast and that was delivered on time. Staff were very friendly and willing to help answer question on how to get around the city. Would def stay here again.
CBD Empire Apartments was perfect for our group of three. The location of the apartments was perfect, a short walk from Melbourne Central and other convenience shops. The layout of the apartment was accommodating, there was enough space in the main living room and a nice view from the balcony. The pool area on the 31st floor was also great, there are two unisex bathrooms, potentially more in the Gym area which we didn't use.
Really friendly staff met us on arrival to hand over keys and explain key points.
Apartment was beautifully situated where we had a view over the water (marina) and to the city. Spacious rooms with nice balcony.
Location at Docklands is perfect for our purpose. On rim of CBD so not so noisy/busy. Trams just up the road and it's a short walk to both CBD and to Southbank precincts.
A great central location in the city CBD, with easy access to transport, restaurants, shopping, sporting venues and the many tourist attractions in and around the city. The hotel environment and staff was very friendly and welcoming. The cafe breakfast had a great selection of food options to kick start my day off in the right direction.
Very close to the CBD and Vic markets, on the free tram line into the city making travel very convenient. The hotel is set up for family or business and the lobby is nice.
Gym and pool also a nice bonus! Plus a quiet spot on the top floor with comfortable seating to relax away from hustle and bustle of Melbourne CBD.
Lovely clean and comfortable boutique hotel. Close to shops, transport, CBD, and undercover parking is also available.
I experienced friendly, helpful staff and a lovely atmosphere. I will stay again if coming into Melbourne.
I would recommend the Miami to anyone wanting accommodation close to town.
Location is supergood: next neighbour is Pharmacy School of Monash University and walking distance to Melbourne University. Easy to tram to CBD.
Value of your money: compared to other hotels at similar location, it is cheaper than most of the others.
Good restaurant: The meals in MoJa were delicious.
Enjoyed the overnight stay at this hotel. Good location (except City Rd is probably the worst road in the greater Melbourne CBD - but that isnt the hotel's fault!) comfy room, good price and a short walk to a lot of the things you want to do in Melbourne. Would highly recommend.
It was extremely convenient location for me due to my late arrival and the bus connection option I used from the airport to the CBD Melbourne. It was just a few minutes walk from the terminal bus stop to the hotel, which was quick and easy even with my moderate luggage load.
Great location on Flinders St in Melbourne CBD with direct tram service to Australian Open outside the front door.
The Rendezvous Hotel is a grand old lady of yesteryear that retains an older style character but with a modern fresh vibe. Well appointed and comfortable.
Cosy little hotel located just outside of the CBD and adjacent to Fitzroy, Cartlon and other Melbourne Inner suburbs, so within easy reach of most of what we wanted to do. We walked almost everywhere, Onsite parking ($30/n) was a tad exy but its Melbourne.
The hotel is centrally located in the heart of Melbourne CBD near Flagstaff Gardens. It is a short walk to Melbourne Central, the Queen Victoria Market, and Docklands. The hotel is clean and comfortable, and good value for money.
The hotel was fantastic, it was clean and the rooms were great. The staff were all very friendly, and super helpful. The location was good if you want to be out of the CBD, but still in a central location and close to Smith St.
This is our preferred accommodation in Melbourne CBD. The apartments are a really good size. Much bigger than what you get in a traditional hotel. The location is brilliant. Don’t think we could find anything better.
The location is the best part about this hotel; central to everything, a short walk to all main attractions in Melbourne CBD. The room I had was nice and spacious, with a good view of the city. Price was also good.
The view from the apartment and the location of the property are amazing. The apartment located in the center of of Melbourne CBD and so close to all tourist attractions and shops.
Very clean and modern hotel. Well located, within easy walking distance of everything in the CBD, convenient for trams, shopping etc Late night check in was really easy and quick
